kimberley065 - a ghost crab

ghost crab, wildlife art, Broome photograher

kimberley065 is a ghost crab photographed on one the many tiny little rock and sand islands on the remote northern section of the Kimberley coast.

You can't help feeling that you could be the first person to set foot on this for many years, perhaps ever.

There are just so many of these tiny islands often with several small beaches, but...

...no trees and no water.

This crab is about two centimeters across. They can run so fast...

...you only see a blur and then they stop dead still.

It took about an hour to get in a position to get this shot...

...it was like the crab was having a game with me...

Luckily I had a good crab wrangler with me.

Having somebody to assist can make a huge difference with this kind of photography, because you do literally have to coax the animal into a position where you can get the shot.
