That is the name used by many long term locals for this amphibious mudskipper from Broome Australia.

Massive tides of up to 10 meters on the Kimberley coast create thousands of hectares of mudflats, sandflats and moist mangrove forest floors which is the ideal environment for these cute little creatures.

... which allows them great protection from predators.

They are actually fish with gills and have evolved to survive out of water by...

...storing seawater in a cavity behind their eyes...

so their gills can keep getting oxygen from the seawater in between the time when they can immerse in seawater again.
