Two Crabs

mudcrabs, wildlife art, broome photograher

two crabs have come out of their moist muddy hole to sift through the sand to feed on the algae and detritus that attaches to the sand grains.

If it wasn't for these little creatures, much of the vast inter-tidal flats of the Kimberley could be a slimy mess.

It is often necessary to keep perfectly still for several minutes before these beautiful little creatures will venture out of their hole in the presence of a human, or for that matter a heron.
